Main Advantages

The HiQSoft CMS is a great tool for general Content Management. It is also more than just a Content Management System, because it is a framework and base system for web applications and it can be evolved and enhanced from within. Simply by adding database fields, tables and relationships, an existing CMS can grow to hold more and more information and become a knowledge base, a project management tool, a help desk, an online-order and customer request management system and many other things, all in the same system.

The HiQSoft CMS can be embedded easily into graphic designs, giving it the look and feel of any web site or corporate standard. Content Database

The HiQSoft CMS is database driven, with dynamic web forms for the maintenance of all managed information. Forms are generated automatically and can include many different types of fields, including text, dropdowns, rich-text contents and database links for the powerful relational linking of content elements and database records.

The online database management functions of the HiQSoft CMS allow the creation and maintenance of all CMS database tables and relationships. For example, new database fields, tables and their relationships can be defined. They will be automatically added to the database, forms and reports.

Security Models

The HiQSoft CMS allows authorized users to create and update contents and application data. The security model can be set up as single user, multiple users, user groups, ownership, hierarchical or a combination of these. The CMS maintains a strong permission concept with table, record and field level security.

User Ids and passwords can be stored securely in the database or the CMS can also tie into an NT Domain, Active Directory or other authentication services.

Update History

With the HiQSoft CMS, the history and audit trail of all updates is maintained and it is possible to reproduce any contents as of a specified date and time. No information can be accidentally lost and past decision processes for content changes can be reviewed at any time.

Content Import and Export

Content can be imported and exported in different formats, for example from and to structured MS Word documents, MS Excel spreadsheets, text files or copy-and-paste.

Workflow Support

The HiQSoft CMS supports workflows by assignment of items and permissions, status management, different types of notifications and multi-level reporting.

Project Management

The HiQSoft CMS has a built-in Project Management function, which works on the basis of Projects, Deliverables and Tasks. The systems shows a To-Do list, due dates, allows team members to input and describe their work time, generate timesheets and detailed project status reports. The Project Management function is highly interactive and allows browsing and updating of project information and related knowledge base entries according to the security and permission setup.

Staging and Publishing

Some sites and applications use a Staging and Production site setup. Others use just one site with a preview function. The CMS supports customizable workflows for those different setups with preview, approval and publishing.

Server Requirements

The HiQSoft CMS works on Windows based web servers, including NT4/2000/XP Server or Workstation with IIS installed. The database platform can be one of many ODBC compliant databases, including MS Access, MS SQL Server and Oracle. HiQSoft also offers hosting services for web sites and web applications.

Infrastructure and Scaling

For small to medium size sites and traffic up to a few hundred visitors per day, an MS Access database will usually be sufficent. For medium to large sites we recommend to upgrade to MS SQL Server. For even larger and high-traffic sites it will help to separate the web and database server onto different machines and possibly use load balancing for increased performance.

The CMS market is very broad and there are hundreds of vendors. Prices range up to several hundred thousands of dollars, they often also depend on the number of users, pages, CPUs or volume of data and web traffic. The prices for HiQSoft CMS include support for the initial configuration, a test environment on HiQSoft servers if required and installation support for the live production site.Prices are for an unlimited number of users, pages, database tables and records, for a single site or application. Additional options are available separately to enhance the Bronze and Silver editions. Reseller pricing, multi-site and other discounts are available. Local taxes of your country, state or province may apply.
